Chanel Spring-Summer 2018 Fashion Show

Chanel Spring-Summer 2018 Fashion Show

Chanel always hosts its show at the Grand Palais on the last Tuesday of Paris Fashion Week at 10:30am—always! This Paris Fashion Week the show is on October 3, 2017 and I can not wait to see how they will top the set design from the last fashion show. After all, they did launch a rocket in the Grand Palais!

Pre-Show Spectacle

The outside of the Chanel show is a street style photographers dream. Celebrities, guests and fans line the street in their fashion forward styles, while photographers run around trying to catch every outfit passing by.

As we enter, we’re confronted by a jungle of plants and the tallest indoor, manmade cliff I’ve ever seen complete with multiple waterfalls and a moat! Leave it to Chanel to produce something so spectacular and bring the cliffs and coursing waterfalls of the Gorges du Verdon to the Grand Palais!

I’m excited to be sitting next to Jessica Seinfield (she’s so incredibly nice!) and as we are waiting for the show to start, who should walk by but none other than Cindy Crawford??

She’s such a striking beauty—and so tall!

The Main Event

The waterfalls start flowing stronger, the music gets louder and then through one of the caves in the cliff formations, the models start walking out. First out is Kaia Gerber (Cindy Crawford’s mini-me daughter) and she doesn’t walk—she struts over the wooden bridge and down the winding catwalk over a moat and then up through the Chanel stands.

There are 89 models in the show with some of the coolest fashions I’ve seen yet—colorful and playful, yet classic and elegant. The stand-out item of the show is the transparent plastic material that Karl Lagerfeld is incorporating on everything from raincoats and capes to thigh-high boots, booties and even purse raincoats (so cute)!

Here are my top 10 favorite looks from the show:

What I Wore

I found the grey tweed jumpsuit from the Chanel Fall-Winter Ready to Wear 2017/18 Collection I have been looking for at the Rue Cambon boutique the day before the show, the only one in Paris! I paired it with my favorite silver Chanel boots. My outfit is a play on classic Chanel (the grey tweed, as well as the white collar) with a modern twist (the jumpsuit). I always like to wear items that are rare and unique!

There’s still more to PFW—see you back here!
